Lest you were searching for a new angle on the furor over Donald Trump Jr’s meeting with agents of the Russian government, as confirmed by his own statements and emails, it turns out Trump Jr. was in contact with none other than Wikileaks’ Julian Assange, who wanted to give him some advice.
Julian Assange, the Wikileaks founder, has claimed that he contacted Donald Trump Jr and tried to persuade him to publish emails showing he was eager to accept sensitive information about Hillary Clinton via the anti-secrecy website[...]
“Contacted Trump Jr this morning on why he should publish his emails (i.e with us),” tweeted Assange, who is based at the Ecuadorian embassy in London. “Two hours later, does it himself.”[...]
[Assange] added: “He’s surely had advice and/or is confident on the facts. I’d argue that even the completely innocent need @WikiLeaks.”
More interesting, to me, than Assange’s conceded proffering of advice to Trump Jr. is his implicit admission that he has a direct line of communication into Trump world. So much has been long suspected, and admitted by one of the Trump team’s agents, and denied by Wikileaks itself. This would appear to further confirm the existence of such communications.
