Let’s be serious and truly understand what is going on. With his attacks on Mika Brzezinski for questioning his behavior, with his juvenile tweet this morning showing himself body slamming “CNN” to the floor and pounding them while they lay helpless, Trump is not truly engaged in a battle with the American media — he’s engaged in a hopeless fight with facts and reality. And he’s growing more desperate because he’s losing.
This is who Trump IS, it’s who he’s always been, and always will be.
It’s not about whose right between Joe, Mika and Trump. All the practical evidence shows that Trump has no credibility here, pictures from the event and Joe’s pointing out that Trump was so surprised and impressed by the quality of the work that he actually asked for the name of Mika’s surgeon ten times.
None of that is actually the issue.
It’s what Mika originally said that struck a core nerve.
“Let’s say someone came into NBC and took over NBC, and started tweeting wildly about people’s appearances, bullying people, talking about people in the competition, lying every day, undermining his managers, throwing them under the (bus) — that person would be thrown out,” she continued. “It’s just not normal behavior. In fact, there would be concerns that the person who runs the company is out of his mind.”
And so what does Trump do in response? He tweets wildly about HER appearance, he literally tries to bully her and Joe, talks about their competition — CNN — and just continues doing exactly what she was talking about and proves her exact point.
Unfortunately he’s not a Chairman of a Public Company that has share holders and a board that could potentially throw him out. He’s a President and what she was really saying is that his cabinet should possibly be looking at the 25th Amendment very closely.
It’s not that Mika said Trump was “out of his mind”, she only hinted that “there would be concerns” about that issue — but the real point she madke is “that person would be thrown out” and that’s because they would be essentially unfit for their office.
But of course his fans are just loving this.
There are many in Trump’s camp who do love this, think it’s hilarious that the media is now so “Triggered” by it all. Those people are frankly as deeply and sadly deluded as Trump is himself, and that my friends is the much larger problem.
Key example of that delusion is In point of fact, that CNN and MSNBC are having just about their best ratings ever.
Yet the actual ratings data refutes Trump's allegations. In the second quarter of 2017, Morning Joe marked its ninth consecutive quarter of growth, according to an NBC Universal press release. The show posted an average viewership of 997,000, making it the second-highest rated show in the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. slot.Morning Joe also achieved "MSNBC's highest rating ever" in that time slot among viewers aged 25 to 54, according to the release.
Cable news viewership overall has spiked in the wake of Trump's election. CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC all saw double-digit ratings increases in the second quarter of 2017, according to Nielsen data cited by Variety.
Trump has also slammed CNN for low ratings, despite the fact that the network has posted a total day rating spike of 25% in Q2 2017, compared to the same quarter in 2016.
So he’s wrong about Mika “bleeding”, he’s wrong about Morning Joe’s ratings. He’s wrong that the New York Times is “failing”, he’s wrong about the Washington Post, he’s wrong about “Space”, he’s wrong about Obamacare “collapsing”, he’s wrong about Trade, he’s wrong about Immigration, he’s wrong about Terrorism, he’s wrong about Russia, he’s wrong about ISIS, he’s wrong about Trumpcare, his “Fraud” commission, and his Muslim ban “working.”
But he’s desperate to convince everyone — or at least his loyal pavlovian base — that he’s right, and every one who points out all his fuckups are “#FakeNews”. But that’s not working on anyone, except his sycophants.
And on top of all that it’s dangerous.
How long did it take for GOPers — without any facts specifically involving Sanders — to blame Bernie Sanders for the Baseball practice shooting that wounded Steve Scalise? How apoplectic did they become over Kathy Griffin’s Trump head “bleeding from his where ever?” Frankly that head was a visual representation of what Trump has now said about Mika. This new tweet is a visual representation of what literally happened to Rep. Scalise.
But are we going to here Trump or any of his people acknowledge that? Are we going to here them apologize for that? No we’re not. We’re more likely to see this tho…
One woman was knocked unconscious during the attack, according to the BBC. Police and paramedics responded to the fracas at Florence Park in Oxford, England.
The victims where celebrating Eid al-Fitr, the “feast of breaking the fast” that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, when adult Muslims fast from dawn to dusk as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
“A witness, who did not wish to be named, told BBC News that a woman had been punched and kicked after being hit by a ball from someone in another group,” BBC reported. “A member of the group accused of the attack, who asked not to be named, said the football hit the woman accidentally and at no time did they use or hear any racist language.”
In fact what the White House has actually said is “You people can never take a joke!”
“It is a sad day when the President of the United States encourages violence against reporters,” the CNN statement said. “Clearly, Sarah Huckabee Sanders lied when she said the President had never done so.”
But White House staffers told The Daily Beast that they supported Trump’s attack on CNN, which was reportedly created with assistance from White House Director of Social Media Dan Scavino.
“I thought it was funny,” one official at the White House told the publication. “Glad Scavino and the president did that.”
“The president fights back,” one staffer said. “It’s rich that some of you people [in the media] can never take a joke.”
Because this is what Trump wants. He wants us all angry, frustrated, pent up with rage — rather than calm and focused and able to pick away the bullshit from the truth.
But he’s not winning this War, not unless we let him — and I for one am not about to let that happen.
