In ongoing reporting, TPM has documented the Trump administration's severing of ties with a large coalition of groups that had worked with the Obama administration to promote the Affordable Care Act and increase enrollments in hard-to-reach populations. Pressed on the issue, and administration spokesperson refused to say whether the administration would do any outreach for open enrollment under the law.
Asked by CNBC whether the Trump administration would end the long-standing partnerships with corporations and non-profits across the country, HHS spokeswoman Alleigh Marrè would not give a direct answer.
"As Obamacare continues to collapse, the administration is considering its options on how to address the challenges Americans are facing by cancelled plans, higher costs, and failing markets, she said.
Again, Obamacare is not collapsing. Most of the struggles that the Obamacare markets are having are as a direct result of out-and-out sabotage by the administration and threats of it coming from both Trump and congressional Republicans. Some of the groups that Trump is spurning are continuing their outreach efforts, but they'll be lacking much of the funding they've relied upon, funding that the administration has actually funneled into a PR campaign opposing the law, a move that is being investigated by the GAO.
