Today in South Carolina, a man named Russell Walker filed a lawsuit saying that Confederate flags need to be returned to the courtroom. Out front, he explained to reporters that:
I don’t believe it’s a symbol of slavery. That’s my personal view but how they feel is their business. It would be ludicrous for me to tell you how they feel. Hey, I go down the street and I see Martin Luther Coon, I mean, I shouldn’t have said that, Martin Luther King. I mean, should I rip the signs down?
No. You shouldn’t have said that. That’s a pretty awful thing to say. It’s a racist thing to say. By any definition of racism and humor and things people say, that’s racist. One thing about these “white pride” guys, is that they always seem considerably more “proud” to be racist than to actually be white.
Here’s Russell Poopkins explaining how “the Jews rule the world” and his other thoughts on race and language and color. You need only watch the first minute of him talking, after he is introduced, to understand where this man is coming from.
Yoojin Cho has an update.
Now go back to your house, Mr. Russell, take some ice tea out of the refrigerator, and shut the fuck up.
