Charities continue to abandon Mar-a-Lago in favor of locations whose owners are less conflicted about the role of Nazis in our society.
The Bethesda Hospital Foundation will move its Nov. 9 “Women of Grace” event from Mar-a-Lago to the Boca Raton Resort and Club, located about 28 miles south down the Florida coast, said spokeswoman Paula Henderson. “We did change the venue. It just took a long time because we had a lot of people to meet with,” Henderson said in a brief phone interview.
As we've said after each one of the other cancellations: 'bout time.
The Washington Post's David Fahrenthold counts this as the eighteenth cancellation since Trump's "many sides" and "fine people" remarks. It may be beginning to add up.
[T]aken together, it appears that the canceled events represented more than $1.7 million in revenue for the club. In recent years, Mar-a-Lago has reported profits between $3.9 million and $9 million, according to figures that the club filed in a Florida court case.
Maybe $1.7 million might not count as much more than chump change to a real, actual billionaire, but Donald Trump is the sort of "billionaire" who puts his name on mail-order steak and bottled water bottles to bring the pennies in, so he'll probably consider each of these cancellations to be the financial equivalent of Mar-a-geddon.
