Donald Trump is a well-documented liar who doesn’t know or care about policy—and a tweet from him is the best Sen. Bill Cassidy can do to claim that Cassidy’s Obamacare repeal bill will protect people with pre-existing conditions. In a radio interview Thursday night:
“We address the problem of preexisting conditions, indeed last night President Trump tweeted that he would not sign a bill that did not address the issue of preexisting conditions — really strong statement,” Cassidy said.
Cassidy went on to cite language from his bill that healthcare experts agree does not actually protect people with pre-existing conditions.
This is what he’s got, folks. The word of someone who told more than 1,000 documented lies or other falsehoods in seven months, for a rate of five a day, and who nobody seriously believes cares enough about the specifics of a Republican healthcare bill to know what it does about pre-existing conditions as long as it can be called Obamacare repeal.
