I am a southern boy born and raised, although not “country” as some of my friends like to point out since I was raised in the “city". For too long our representatives have only worked to benefit a certain group of individuals. We must take back our district and fight for everyone regardless of politics or any other issue they like to divide us on.
House District 70 is diverse, we have suburban and rural communities, we have wealthy individuals and people just barely getting by. Our district has been under GOP control for nearly 10 years, and it’s time for that to change. I see the blue wave sweeping across our country and it tells me that people are ready to be represented by people that will work to make their lives better. People who put people before corporations, and make sure everyone can prosper in our country not just the wealthy.
Just a few days ago a 27 year old Democrat won handily in Missouri, a state that many thought (just like Arkansas) wouldn’t be a good state for democratic wins. The truth is the real work starts on the local level, building a bench of progressive candidates at the state level who can then implement lasting change. I look at all of the amazing young people running in my state and know that we have a bright future ahead of us. People who up until now haven’t been party insiders, who aren’t established politicians, just people who said we need a change and I want to be that change.
We can fight for issues that shouldn’t be partisan, like debt-free education, healthcare, and poverty. We can make sure that every Arkansan has a voice in our government, not just the lobbyists and millionaires. Over 32,000 people in our district call our beautiful state home. I want to fight for those people and make sure they all get the best our State can offer.
We have a long fight ahead of us but together we can build a better Natural State.
