Fox News Jerusalem correspondent Conor Powell has resigned from Fox News, citing the “direction” of the network. Powell made a brief statement saying his friends know his reasoning for leaving the network. From TheWrap:
“After nearly 9 years, I have decided to resign from Fox News. Those of you who have spoken to me in recent months, you will understand why I am leaving FNC,” he said. “To my many friends at the channel I wish you the best of luck.”
So what did those close to Powell have to say?
In his public post, Powell did not reveal why he had left, but an individual familiar with the matter told TheWrap that he was “uncomfortable with the direction of the news organization in recent months. Fewer news shows. More opinion shows. Less resources for reporters to report.”
The individual added, “Lots of reporters are very unhappy with directions of FNC right now.”
Who could blame him or any other serious professional for leaving the network? The Fox News morning and nighttime line-up are a nonstop propaganda tool of Donald Trump and the Republican party. Not to mention a cesspool of sexual harassment toward female employees. It’s a wonder Powell and other professional reporters (cough, Shep Smith, cough) have ever lasted this long. Perhaps they were trying to maintain professional standards and steer the ship from inside the beast?
