ABC’s late night host Jimmy Kimmel posed a simple question to entertainer and known egotist Kanye West. Back in April, after being accused of being a Trump fan, West tried to defend his stance with an altruistic quote on Twitter (see below). In May, West made the same kind of attempt to redeem himself after after saying 400 years of slavery was a “choice.” The quote stuck and he caught a big dose of backlash on Twitter.
Here’s one example of one of his “I love Trump” proclamations—but that’s because “I love everyone.”
I’m betting Taylor Swift, after a decade-long feud with West, is not buying the whole “I love everyone.” bit either.
But back to Kimmel, and his basic question asking West what Trump has done for blacks, or “any other people.” West fidgets without saying anything. Here is the video via Ryan Knight, Twitter’s @ProudResister, followed by a short transcription of the clip. Kanye West’s body language alone is very telling.

Jimmy Kimmel:
“In literal terms, there are families being torn apart at the border of this country. They are literally families being torn apart as a result of what this president is doing—and I think that we cannot forget that, whether we like his personality or not, his actions are really what matter. I mean you so famously and so powerfully said, ‘George Bush doesn’t care about black people.’ It makes me wonder what makes you think that Donald Trump does (care about black people) or any people at all.
(West goes radio silent.)
Why don’t we take a break and come back—Kanye West.”
Thank you to Jimmy Kimmel for using his far-reaching platform to challenge Trump and those who support him.
