Republican Congressman's son donates max to Democratic candidate vying to succeed him

Some breaking news in the 6th Congressional District of Virginia this evening comes from a surprising revelation, as Congressman Bob Goodlatte’s son posted on Twitter that he was donating the max amount to the Democrat vying to succeed him, mental health professional and working class candidate Jennifer Lewis:

I just gave the maximum allowed donation to Jennifer Lewis, a democrat running for my father's congressional seat. I've also gotten 5 other folks to commit to donate the max. 2018 is the year to flip districts — let's do this! https://t.co/bYCKta2Bhs

This is a thoroughly impressive gesture. Though I can’t speak to Bobby’s motives, if I had to guess, I’d venture to say it’s because Jennifer’s opponent, Republican Ben Cline, has sold out and completely toadied up to white supremacist and Virginia Senatorial Candidate Corey Stewart, thinking it’s the only way he’ll possibly be able to win a Congressional seat that he states is “owed” to him by Bobby’s father.

Virginia’s 6th Congressional district, if recent polling is an indicator, is a competitive district in this climate- though ignored by the DCCC, recent polling shows a race that’s a dead even heat.

We’ve got a chance to run the table and not just win back the House of Representatives by a slim margin, but by a commanding majority. Even better than that? We can prove that working class progressives can run, and win, in every single district in the country.
