To me, it's not just one country. We have non-state actors. I’m very, very concerned myself about Iran and the capability they will have due to the Iranian nuclear agreement funding. It's inconceivable the amount of money provided to this theocratic regime, which claims death to America and death to Israel.
Did you notice? The missing word is “Russia”. Wilson managed to evade giving direct answers while also not even saying the word “Russia” in questions specifically about Russian interference. While I can appreciate a GOP member wanting to support the idea that Trump deserved to “win”, he seems to be showing an extreme reluctance to even hint at the idea of Russian interference. Why did Joe Wilson have such resistance to condemn a foreign power for interfering in our election?
Now to March 2017, when Wilson did an interview with Sputnik News. Yes, that is correct. U.S. Congressman Joe Wilson did an interview with SPUTNIK NEWS, THE RUSSIAN NEWS AGENCY (I’ll let you decide for yourself what you think about that).
The accusations of Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 US election have been made up, US Congressman Joe Wilson told Sputnik on Thursday.
“I don’t see Russia involvement in the election. That’s made up,” Wilson stated.
Obviously today, that statement makes Wilson look either completely devoid of good judgement or willfully being ignorant of the vast amount of evidence that had already been piling up by that point. Considering his past comments on Russia and Putin, it seems reasonable to think that Wilson was trying to discredit the idea of Russian interference despite the mounting evidence. The question is why. What is Joe Wilson getting out of this?
Now a couple of quick video clips of Wilson further attempting to shift attention away from Russian interference.
C-SPAN in May 2017:
"That's what the investigation of quote, Russia is and that is, why did she lose? She lost because of a ridiculous campaign." (She referring to Hillary Clinton)
Fox News in July 2017:
"We need to be working with the president of Russia to address serious issues of cyberwarfare."
And finally, an official attempt to obstruct the investigation by Wilson and various other Republican “patriots” in October 2017.
More than a dozen House Republicans are demanding that special counsel Robert Mueller testify in a public congressional hearing on his investigation into possible ties between Donald Trump and Russia in the presidential election, any expenses incurred and the selection of the team.
In a letter to House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte and Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, Republican Representative of Texas Brian Babin wrote that every nominee to become a U.S. attorney must be confirmed by the Senate, allowing conflicts of interest, biases and questionable past conduct to come to light.
The letter alleges there are “numerous reports emerging almost every day” of conflicts of interest and that the team “has sweeping authority and an open-ended mission, yet they are allowed to operate largely in secret, selected by and ultimately accountable to only one person: Mr. Mueller himself.”
The 18 Republicans who signed Babin’s letter are Representatives Jody Hice of Georgia, Bob Gibbs of Ohio, Doug LaMalfa of California, Ralph Norman of South Carolina, Bill Flores of Texas, Bill Posey of Florida, Randy Weber of Texas, Kay Granger of Texas, Trent Franks of Arizona, Andy Harris of Maryland, Alex Mooney of West Virginia, Steve King of Iowa, Duncan Hunter of California, Scott DesJarlais of Tennessee, Joe Wilson of South Carolina, Neal Dunn of Florida, Ralph Abraham of Louisiana and David Brat of Virginia.
To sum up, Joe Wilson has provided public support for Russia (which he visted frequently) and Putin in the past, discounted the possibility of Russian interference in the 2016 election and took actual action in his Congressional capacity to impede Mueller’s investigation into said interference and any possible connection to the Trump Campaign. Why? What is the benefit for him? Can we elect a Representative who puts America ahead of Russia?
