Received this e-mail today from Braddock Mayor John Fetterman’s (D. PA) Lt. Governor campaign:
This is a campaign fueled by working people, for working people — which is why I was honored to receive the endorsement of Pennsylvania's United Steelworkers (USW) chapter, District 10:
The labor movement has always played a vital role in securing rights and benefits for hard-working folks across Pennsylvania — and I'm committed to standing strong with them. Will you join us in building a campaign for PA's working people by chipping in $5 or more now toward our critical filing deadline goal of $70,000 next Monday?
Last week, Republican Rick Saccone actually thought he could win in PA-18 without the support of the biggest labor unions in the district because of his unapologetic support of right-to-work laws that have decimated organized labor across the country. But wow, was that a mistake.
More than 20% of PA-18 residents are current or retired union members. So when Conor Lamb came out with a strong stance on every working person's right to join a union, labor groups like the United Steelworkers and United Mine Workers of America were all in.
PA-18 is a lesson on the power of labor, and proves how successful Democrats can be when they champion the rights of working Americans over the special interests of lobbyists and big business.
When our unions are strong, the values of working people take center stage in important elections — and our firefighters, teachers, and trade workers can all count on decent benefits and a living wage to support themselves and their families.
In solidarity,
Mayor John
