If one thing is true about prescription drug prices, it's this: They're getting out of control.
Ohioans suffering from chronic illnesses count on prescriptions. But prescription drug pricing doesn't work like the price of other items. If coffee is too expensive for you, you can choose not to buy it. That's not an option you have with chemotherapy medication, insulin, or other life-saving medications.
Here's another fact about prescription drug prices: Congress can take action now to bring them down.
We can require transparency when drug companies plan to hike the prices of their life-saving medications and penalize gouging. We can also allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, which would have a ripple effect through the market to bring overall costs down.
We have a path forward. All we're missing is Congressional leaders' willingness to take this path. I need you on my side to demand Congress and President Trump act.
Urge Congress and Trump to take action immediately to bring down prescription drug costs.
Too many drug companies are focused on profits over patients. Thank you for helping me pressure Congress to turn this around.
