So Trump is apparently really, really appalled that Samantha Bee used the “C-word” about his daughter, even though both she an her network TBS have apologized for it. It was a dumb mistake, not simply because it’s a terms that used by misogynist to discount the value of women — but because also by using it she completed stepped on her own message which is the fact that Ivanka Trump claims that she can “temper” Trump’s worst instincts are either a complete load of bull, or else she actually is having an impact and that without her Trump would be even worse with his inhumane impulses.
If you replace that one word with “Fool”, “Phony”, “Fake” or “Charlatan” — the basic points still stands. I can condemn her use of that word, but I don’t condemn the issue she was raising because on that — she was right.
Also Trump fans seemed to have no problem with the “C-Word” just a few months ago, as shown above — so who has a “double-standard” now?
By comparison even in it’s original form the Roseanne statement about Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett isn’t funny, isn’t substantive, doesn’t make any kind of reasonable point, isn’t a valid criticism, is racist as hell and also doesn’t make any damn sense.
Let’s remember how Trump responded to the last person to use the C-word around him.
Oliver Willis, a writer at the progressive news site Shareblue, unearthed a 1994 interview in which musician Ted Nugent used the same c-word to refer to then-first lady Hillary Clinton.
To show how Nugent’s offensive language has done nothing to impact his standing with Republicans, Willis tweeted a recent photo of Nugent shaking hands with Trump alongside the 24-year-old quote. He referred to the backlash as “fake outrage.”
….
The photo was taken on April 19, 2017, when Trump dined with Nugent, Kid Rock and Sarah Palin at the White House. The two musicians and one former vice presidential candidate also paused to take a sneering photo together alongside Hillary Clinton’s portrait.
And although she too condemned Bee’s comments and defended Ivanka, Chelsea Clinton also concurred with Willis.
And hardly anyone remebers this tidbit from right around November 2016 — wonder what else was happening then?
A Texas state official celebrated Donald Trump's slight lead over Hillary Clinton in a new poll of Pennsylvanians by calling the Democratic nominee a vulgar term.
The Republican agricultural commissioner said Clinton was a "cunt" in a tweet Tuesday afternoon. Miller deleted the tweet shortly afterward, but not before the original message could be captured in a screenshot.
Does he still have a job, betcha that he does.
And then there’s this apparently deleted Roseanne Tweet.
So that happened too.
Just for the record here are Samantha Bee’s full comments.
“Tearing children away from their parents is so evil it’s the inciting incident in almost every movie we’ve ever cared about,” Bee said.
She admitted that hundreds of migrant children had been lost in the immigration system under policies that predated President Donald Trump, but she hammered Ivanka Trump for overlooking the outrage to promote her own family.
“Ivanka Trump, who works at the White House, chose to post the second most oblivious tweet we’ve seen this week,” Bee said. “You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another, do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c*nt!”
“He listens to you,” she added. “Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing and see how it goes, okay?”
Bee also called for the elimination of ICE as a relic of the past.
“Our current immigration policy is an early 2000’s relic that’s outdated, a law enforcement Adrien Brody, if you will,” she said. “And like Adrien Brody, it must be eliminated. Abolishing ICE shouldn’t be controversial in spite of what Fox News would have you believe, it doesn’t mean we let criminals — immigrants who commit crimes go free. We already have mechanisms in place to prosecute them in something called the law.”
Instead, what we have now ultimately ends up “tearing happy families apart,” Bee explained. “And it makes assh*les like this think they’re being good citizens.”
She then showed the clip of disgraced lawyer Aaron “I’m not a racist” Schlossberg, who became known as “racist lawyer bro” after a video of him threatening to call ICE on Spanish-speaking workers went viral.
“If former ICE agents need a new job, may I suggest the law office of Aaron Schlossberg. I think there may be a vacancy,” she closed
Regardless of the one offensive word that has everyone entranced, It has to be noted that there is a clear compassion deficit in deliberately establishing a policy that rips children out of their parents arms and places them into detention centers even when they are following the law governing surrendering themselves to seek asylum largely because Trump decided to cancel the Obama-era program that allowed them to apply for refugee status at the embassy and consulate in their own native countries.
The Trump administration on Wednesday formally terminated an Obama-era program that granted Central American minors temporary legal residence in the United States, shutting the door on 2,714 people who had won conditional approval to enter the country.
President Barack Obama’s administration established the “CAM parole” program in 2014 to respond to a massive spike in the number of unaccompanied minors and families entering the country illegally from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Under the terms, minors who failed to win refugee status could enter on a two-year, renewable parole if they had a parent already legally present in the country.
But the program’s future was put in doubt in February when the Department of Homeland Security froze it and announced an internal review as part of President Trump’s executive orders aimed at tightening immigration controls.
So when Trumpsters claim they have “no choice” but to put children in detention — they’re full of shit. Also there are reports the children who enter border detention are being systematically abused physically and verbally.
A trove of public records has exposed what civil rights advocates say is evidence of widespread abuse and mistreatment of unauthorized immigrant children detained by federal authorities along the Southwest border.
Examples of allegations of abuse include excessive physical force during apprehension, threats of sexual assault, derogatory slurs and failure to provide basic necessities such as bedding, food, medical care and clean facilities, according to a report released Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union and University of Chicago Law School.
The report is based on more than 30,000 pages of documents obtained from U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s two oversight agencies, outlining possibly hundreds of separate allegations of abuse or mistreatment of minors under 18 who either crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally or claimed asylum from 2009 to 2014, said Mitra Ebadolahi, an attorney for the ACLU of San Diego and Imperial Counties.
…
“Again and again, the government agents responsible for these children’s welfare have turned a blind eye to colleagues’ lawlessness and violence,” the report states.
Please note this report was based on these conditions under Pres. Obama involving unaccompanied minors and were part of the reason he established his refugee application program which Trump has now ended so those problems are simply going to get worse from here on out.
And although DHS has pushed back on that report, it’s been largely confirmed by House Reps who have visited these facilities.
Lawmakers have described with shocking detail the conditions inside two notorious family migrant detention facilities in Texas, as the Obama administration announced further steps to reduce the heavily criticised practice of detaining women and children who cross the Mexican border into the US.
Eight Democratic House representatives visited the privately run family detention centres in Karnes and Dilley earlier this week, and told reporters on Wednesday they had met mothers experiencing extreme depression and children “incurring terrible psychological damage” as a result of their prolonged incarceration in facilities akin to “jail for children”.
“Our behavior toward these children – our taxpayer-funded incarceration – does not comport with American values, it does not comport with international law,” said congresswoman Zoe Lofgren.
This is nothing more than pure, deliberate, inhumane cruelty for the sake of “deterrence" as we’ve already heard from Jeff Sessions, DHS Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen and CoS John Kelly.
The policy, not to go all Godwin, actually happens to be one that was practiced by Nazi Germany.
Separating children from their parents was a notorious tactic used by Nazi Germany in its mass arrests of Jews and other targeted populations during World War II. In North America, the U.S. and Canadian governments also separated Native American children from their families a century ago.
Using children as informants to target and subsequently arrest parents was a devious tactic employed during the darkest moments of WWII.
This was not inevitable, this is a human crisis of their own making.
Then again, that doesn't much matter to Trump.
“Why aren’t they firing no talent Samantha Bee for the horrible language used on her low ratings show?” Trump wrote. “A total double standard but that’s O.K., we are Winning, and will be doing so for a long time to come!”
Fortunately The View Host Sonny Hostin pretty much smashed all that noise.
“It seems to me, he wants to talk about everything but the actual racism that is going on in our country,” Hostin added.
Commenting on the president’s condemnation of comedian Samantha Bee, Hostin noted that Trump had not condemned a racist tweet sent out by Roseanne Barr.
“This president has yet to come out and condemn those comments,” she said. “That’s what we should be talking about. He comes out against Colin Kaepernick, he comes out against Starbucks because they banned the Christmas cup — why hasn’t he come out about what happened to the two black men at Starbucks?”
“It seems to me, he wants to talk about everything but the actual racism that is going on in our country,” Hostin added.
Trump just can’t grok racism. He doesn’t know what it is, he doesn’t recognize it when it happens — he doesn't admit it when he does it.
“Mexicans are Rapist, they bring Crime.” “Khazir Khan supports ISIS”, “There were good people on both sides”, “That Son-of-a-bitch should be FIRED!”, “Shit Hole Countries”,"Immigrants/MS-13 are Animals.” He bans Muslims even when no-one from those countries has even been part of a terrorist attack, he puts immigrant children in border prison, he uses the DACA recipients as bargaining chips in a game of political poker and has never apologized for any of this, or even acknowledged that any of it was wrong.
Instead he plays the victim. He plays the White Grievance Card. He whines, he cries, he stamps his feet. He repeatedly fails to recognize that criticism is not the same as racism.
And also, there’s this:
So on top of everything else, he’s full of shit.
