Former campaign manager to Donald Trump, and currently in deep doo doo, Paul Manafort had it as good as one could have it being in a Northern Neck, Virginia jail. He had his own bathroom and shower, a larger private cell, access to personal emails and his lawyers. But, in trying to game the system for some more time before he goes to trial and (hopefully) faces his come-uppance, Judge T.S. Ellis called his bluff and had him moved “closer” to his lawyers.
Manafort’s team of sillies quickly realized their error and tried to petition a stop to the move, only to get what they supposedly wanted in the first place. But as Judge T.S. Ellis explained, Alexandria Virginia Detention Center is probably a perfect fit for Manafort.
After Ellis' transfer order, Manafort's lawyers asked him to be allowed to stay in Warsaw, citing concerns about his safety. But Ellis brushed aside those worries in a new order, saying that officials at the federal lockup in Alexandria have experience handling inmates such as "foreign and domestic terrorists, spies and traitors."
