In a segment on Fox News, host Laura Ingraham; former Bush administration lawyer John Yoo, who made the case in favor of torture during his time at the White House; and Alan Dershowitz, Jeffrey Epstein’s former attorney, who is facing sexual assault allegations of his own, discussed whether Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman was truly loyal to the United States because the Purple Heart recipient was born in Ukraine before being brought to the United States when he was 3 years old.
It was grotesque. Deplorable. And over on MSNBC, host Nicolle Wallace played the clip and called them all “chickenshits,” noting that Lt. Col. Vindman had passed an extensive background check for his role, something Donald Trump’s daughter and son-in-law were unable to do.
Wallace wasn’t alone in calling out Republicans, such as former Congressman Sean Duffy, who has inexplicably been given a huge platform on CNN to espouse talking points he brought straight from the set of Fox News. Duffy embarrassed his new colleagues and the network as a whole in his appearance on Tuesday, in which he also questioned Vindman’s allegiance to the United States. CNN’s Brianna Keilar slammed Duffy in a must-watch segment.
For the integrity of the network, CNN should immediately sever ties with Duffy. There’s an entire other network that peddles disinformation and propaganda, and CNN’s audience deserves better.
