Despite his (totally undeserved) reputation as a master dealmaker, this week, President @realDonaldTrump once again found himself on the losing end of a deal.
And so, after bipartisan Congressional negotiators refused to give him what he wanted, Trump—like so many monarchs and autocrats who came before him—opted to simply take it—the Constitution be damned.
That being said, Trump's decision to declare a national emergency (where none exists) was not the action of a strong man; rather, it was an admission of his own weakness.
Ironically, Trump didn't need to do this, a fact he willingly conceded—he just can't help himself.
Nevertheless, as far as Trump's base is concerned, creating a constitutional crisis over a nonexistent crisis is totally worth it—to own the libs.

Pete Hegseth, who was on Trump's shortlist for VA chief, humblebragged about not washing his hands.
Fox & Friends host Pete Hegseth said on the air on Sunday that he hasn’t washed his hands in a decade, because "germs are not a real thing," and that he makes himself immune to all threatening colds and flus by not washing them. Your move, anti-vaxxers!
"As I told you my 2019 resolution is to say things on air that I say off air. I don't think I've washed my hands for 10 years. Really I don't really wash my hands ever," Hegseth bravely admitted after co-host Jedediah Bila called him out for eating day-old Pizza Hut pizza that had been left out on set, according to Raw Story.
"I inoculate myself. It's just not—germs are not a real thing. I can't see them, therefore they're not real," Hegseth continued.
Meanwhile...
Darla Shine, the wife of Trump's communications director, called for a return of the measles.
In a series of tweets echoing anti-vaccination views she's espoused publicly for years, Darla Shine lamented the fact her children had received the MMR vaccine, which guards against measles, mumps and rubella. She added that people of her generation -- the Baby Boomers -- were healthier now because they had measles as children.
"I had the #Measles #Mumps #ChickenPox as a child and so did every kid I knew - Sadly my kids had #MMR so they will never have the life long natural immunity I have," Shine tweeted, adding, "Come breathe on me!"
"The entire Baby Boom population alive today had the #Measles as kids," Shine tweeted later. "Bring back our #ChildhoodDiseases they keep you healthy & fight cancer."
Darla Shine's comments come as a measles outbreak sweeps across the country, disproportionally affecting those who were not vaccinated against the disease. Shine dismissed the reports as "#Fake #Hysteria."
Calgon, take me away!
