Received this e-mail today from Democracy for America:
Before she was walking the halls of Congress, throwing conservatives and Fox News into a tizzy, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez advocated for a Green New Deal to create more clean energy jobs, drastically cut carbon emissions, and do what it takes to avert the worst impacts of climate change.
Today, just one month into her first congressional term, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez joined Senator Ed Markey to unveil the framework of this Green New Dealthat would transform our country’s energy infrastructure, slowing down climate change and boosting our economy along the way.
Do you think it’s time we finally act on climate, fight for environmental justice, and bring our country into a clean energy future? Then add your name to join DFA in supporting the Green New Deal today.
Climate change may not be getting the attention it deserves -- it wasn’t mentioned a single time in Trump’s State of the Union address this week -- but it’s by far the biggest threat to our country and our world. Scientists continue to confirm this, but our president and his party do nothing.
A massive problem will take a massive, even “radical” solution to solve. That’s why it’s crucial we put pressure on Congress to support AOC’s Green NewDeal, which would work to establish 100% clean, renewable energy in the United States, overhaul our infrastructure, agriculture, and transportation industries, and create millions of green jobs.
Not only that, but the Green New Deal proposes guaranteeing every American a good-paying job with benefits and universal, high-quality healthcare, to lift up the health and wellbeing of each and every American as we improve our environment and economy.
It’s big. It’s ambitious. And it’s what our country desperately needs to address the threats that climate change poses to every aspect of our lives.
If you’re with us and AOC, sign our petition in support of the Green New Deal to help make it a reality as soon as possible.
Thanks,
- The DFA Team
