Received this e-mail today from former State Senator Mike Johnston’s (D. CO) U.S. Senate campaign:
Today is Earth Day, a day when we celebrate all the natural beauty our planet has to offer.
Here in Colorado, we are surrounded by natural splendor, from the Rocky Mountains and Pikes Peak to Great Sand Dunes National Park and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. I'm so grateful that Courtney and I can raise our family surrounded by so many natural wonders.
Sadly, climate change is threatening all of this — and we're running out of time to do something about it. Cory Gardner has actually voted to make this growing threat worse, standing behind President Trump even as he denies that climate change is real. That's why we need leadership today that recognizes the threat climate change poses and takes action on it.
I've proposed a plan to fight this existential threat to our country and way of life. This Earth Day, will you add your name in support of my Green New Deal?
My Green New Deal will help us achieve a 100% clean energy and carbon-free economy by 2040. It will also build the infrastructure of the future and increase investments in clean energy research, development, and deployment. Plus, it will create tens of thousands of new jobs right here in Colorado — and train and hire millions to fill the next generation of clean energy jobs.
Tackling the threat of climate change is an all hands-on-deck effort — and it's going to take the support of every one of us to build the clean economy our Earth needs.
Can you join me in the fight for our planet by adding your name in support of my Green New Deal?
Coloradans can lead the clean energy revolution that our nation and world demand — and I'm running to be Colorado's next U.S. Senator so I can do my part. I hope you'll join me!
Thank you, and happy Earth Day,
Mike
