Received this e-mail today from Theresa Greenfield’s (D. IA) U.S. Senate campaign:
Joni Ernst has voted against bipartisan efforts to expand background checks, and now she's being held accountable by the people she was elected to serve.
In a town hall over the weekend, Ernst's constituents called her out on her lack of action on gun violence -- telling her to "do something" instead of once again dodging the issue and voting against commonsense solutions.
Ernst has proven time and again that she is on the side of Mitch McConnell and the special interests in Washington -- not Iowans. We need a senator that will stand up and take action.
Add your name and call on Joni Ernst and Mitch McConnell to listen to their constituents and pass smart gun safety legislation now.
As an elected official, it is your responsibility to represent the interests of the people that elected you. But, Ernst and McConnell's unwillingness to address gun violence shows that they are more concerned with pleasing the gun lobby than keeping us safe.
In the Senate, I would work to pass commonsense gun safety legislation, like expanding background checks - something that Ernst has voted 'no' on. But we cannot wait to take action. This has become a public health emergency and we need leaders in Washington who will have the courage to act.
Add your name and join me in calling on Joni Ernst and Mitch McConnell to take action on gun violence.
Thanks,
Theresa
