US to NOT participate in WHO global Covid-19 vaccine consortium.... say what?

This is a story that was reported by Reuters and The Guardian and other foreign press, but hasn’t made it into the US mainstream media until I saw it on CNN about a half hour ago

It seems that the US will not be part of the world-wide consortium set up by the World Health Organization to develop a vaccine for Covid-19.

I’m still trying to wrap my arms around this one….. and I’m having a hard time.

Consider this aspect: If the WHO consortium gets working vaccine first, what right will we have to get it? I would suspect that the first recipients will be those who worked hard to fund the effort and do the research.

And even if they decide to share the design with us, I can envision a situation that, because we weren’t involved with the design phase, we’ll be way behind on setting up production and distribution systems.

This decision is not only stupid, it’s dangerous, and has the potential to result in the unnecessary death of tens or hundreds of thousands of Americans.

If there is ever a time when all hands on deck is necessary and everybody working together is necessary, this is it. By not participating in the WHO consortium, there will obviously be at least some duplication of effort and loss of efficiency and wasted time, effort and money…. and for what? 

To stroke Disinfectant Donnie’s ego and support his idiotic and childish hissy-fit aimed at the WHO.

America first? I’ll show you America first…..
