The Thing About Kamala

Teamwork.

The thing about Kamala is that I trust her to be progressive.

The thing about Kamala is I know she will win on her terms.

The thing about Kamala is that a fully actualized woman is not the same person at 55 as 25 or 35 or 45.  We should not investigate that-we should celebrate it.  And we should mourn so many of our grandmas and women in our families, including mine, who were so heavily defined by the expectations of an era that they essentially lived according to an identity forced upon them.  She lived until the age of 91 did my Grandma.  She stopped her process of self-discovery probably in her 30’s.  That brings tears to my eyes.

The thing about Kamala is that I trust her 100 percent to be committed to issues of justice and equal rights.

The thing about Kamala is that she will be willing to consider UBI.

The thing about Kamala is that she suffers no fools.

The thing about Kamala is that she is brilliant.

The thing about Kamala is that she is passionate.

The thing about Kamala is that she is human.

The thing about Kamala is she is Joseph Robinette Biden Jr.’s running mate.  She is the future.  She is not nostalgic about a past she is excited about a future.

The thing about Kamala is this:  like Joe she believes our best is yet to come.

If we elect them, they will both be right.

I hope I see it.  But if all my illness allows me to experience are the seeds of a bright future planted, than for my last days it shall be that ground I cultivate.
