It is pretty well known that the majority of Jews identify as Democrats.
Four years ago, exit polls show Trump won 23% of the Jewish vote, which in my mind is 23 percent too high.
But with Trump having a tough time drumming up support he plans to heavily target fellow members of the tribe. This is being done by the Republican Jewish Coalition.
How much money? More than ever spent targeting the Jewish population.
Boasting that they are about to embark on “the largest, most sophisticated, most targeted state-of-the-art campaign” in history, leaders of a conservative Jewish advocacy organization announced Thursday that they plan to spend up to $10 million this fall in Florida and other swing states on behalf of President Donald Trump.
Trump says he appeals to the Jewish people because of his moving the US embassy in Israel and the recently announced deal of normalization relations between UAE and israel.
Kevin Muñoz, Florida press secretary for the Biden campaign countered the RJC statement:
“Throughout Vice President Biden’s career of public service, he has been committed to strengthening the U.S.-Israel relationship and ensuring Israel’s qualitative military edge,” Muñoz said. “No amount of advertising dollars can paper over Donald Trump’s complete failure in leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic throughout his time in office, or undermine the historic $38 billion agreement between the U.S. and Israel negotiated under the Obama-Biden administration.”
Anecdotally speaking I come from a huge family with many extended family members. All but one single individual is a sold, and usually active, Democrat.
In some ways I am glad that this group is spending so much on what I believe to be a wasted effort, so that he drains his own cash supply.
From a somewhat older, but I think still relevant Pew Research Study ...
Jews are among the most strongly liberal, Democratic groups in U.S. politics. There are more than twice as many self-identified Jewish liberals as conservatives, while among the general public, this balance is nearly reversed. In addition, about seven-in-ten Jews identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party. Jews are more supportive of President Barack Obama than are most other religious groups. And about eight-in-ten Jews say homosexuality should be accepted by society.
And from a more recent Gallup study…
16%, said they were Republican.
In fact
Jewish Americans were among the least likely to approve of Trump of all religious groups in 2018, with just 26% approving and 71% disapproving
So good luck, RJC and Trump, you will need it.
