Laser irodotomy for glaucoma
This is the list of surgeries I have had, listed above, I forgot to mention this, how silly of me.
Hello, everyone, I thought I would do a short update on my glaucoma situation, and how I have been doing lately. It has been a painful and scary journey. I apologize, I am going to let the links above speak for me, as to the mechanics of what has gone on, I just had the last surgery 4 days ago, it is painful in my right eye, (what's new) I will also interject here, thank goodness for autocorrect, lol, the only time I will probably say this.
Very quickly, if you don't feel like reading through a bunch of links, I have a very rare type of glaucoma. My doctor has been trying to control my eye pressure for months, high eye pressure causes severe eye pain, similar to a migraine, the worst you could imagine. I have had migraines, so I can tell you glaucoma pain is worse. The surgery for malignant glaucoma I had, was a middle of the night emergency, I had to contact the eye doctor on call, i had surgery at UC Davis later that day. My pain level was a ten. I am still amazed that i was able to be seen that quickly, thank goodness for that. Anyway, when you have such eye pressure, it causes damage to the optic nerve, which causes loss of vision, which I definitely have. Also, before I forget, I have had two other laser surgeries in between all of the others i listed above. I have another appointment next week, I will find out if this surgery was successful or not. I sure hope so, this has been one of the most trying times concerning my health in my life, and just my luck, i also had some sort of gross irritation in both of my eyes, which caused a nasty discharge, and painful lumps in both eyes. Very annoying to have such a nasty event in the middle of healing from another surgery. I have never mentioned it, but I also have glaucoma in my other eye, it is just able to be managed with eye drops. I also had cataract surgery in the "good eye," at the same time as the other eye.
I would like to apologize for one of the links above, there are some graphic photos of an eye surgery in process.
Thank you to the friends here who have been so kind as to express concern for my well being, during such trying times. Others have such worse issues they are facing right now, i appreciate it very much.
I haven't posted comments lately because I am not supposed to read very much, typing can be difficult because of obvious issues, I can't paint either. 😭☹. My husband has been keeping me abreast of the horror show that has been unfolding lately. I have been skimming headlines, as well.
Beware! Really gross photo below!
I know this is a horrible picture, it will illustrate what glaucoma actually looks like, better than my diary can say, I do apologize. By the way, malignant glaucoma has nothing to do with anything cancerous, that is just one of it's names. Also called, Aqueous misdirection.
