Netroots Reflections
We have attended every Netroots convention except for Phoenix and we enjoy them immensely. We registered last December and were looking so forward to a summer vacation in Denver. Extra bonus, my cousin lives 20 minutes away from the convention centre so we planned to visit. As with so much, Covid spoiled the plans. Netroots became a virtual convention.
We watched the whole thing, sometimes on our individual computers and sometimes on Mrs. side pocket’s 24 inch desktop. I have to say it worked well. Every panel was excellent and educational (in the sense that we must keep informed about the horror of today’s reality). In our opinion the best panel was the three Secretaries of State who detailed their efforts, against all odds, to have a fair election.
Our Netroots experience usually begins with the Cheers and Jeers dinner on Wednesday evening. Often there are a hundred Kossacks and most are friends we see every year. This year it was held as a Zoom meeting which was OK, but lacked the personal touch. We couldn’t have hugged, anyway. I especially missed the after-hours parties and gatherings. Mrs. side pocket is more sensible but I usually drag in after midnight.
I have been surprised at the number of DKos regulars that were unaware that Netroots was happening. I guess it’s not the be-all and end-all it has always been for me.
It is possible to share the content now. All the panels and Keynotes are available right here.
One feature I missed was that usually at the final evening’s Keynote, the location of the next year’s Netroots would be revealed. Not so this year and if it’s out there I can't find it. If anyone knows please spill the beans.

Last month I wrote a KTK about our long walk around beautiful Spring Lake. I used stock photo of the tanks used to store the day to day Santa Rosa water supply.
On the next hike we walked behind the group of tanks we had seen previously. This shows their size. The figures in front are other hikers. The kids were yelling out words because there was an incredible echo.
Open thread about Netroots, water, tomatoes, or anything else under the sun ☀️.
Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community seriesfor those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another.Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well.
