Since when did Long Island become a MAGA hotbed?

I’m not from Long Island, I have heard of the area, I know some friends from there. I live in New Jersey.

I see tri-state media, and whenever they have stories on LI, it’s always people with MAGA hats and crazy flags, etc.

Since when did LI be a MAGA hotbed? I always thought of LI as a swing area, suburban type area that swings back and forth.

I see on WABC 7 a lot of Long Island businesses, sports teams and police unions supporting Trump and waving his MAGA gear in the offices, etc.

What’s that all about?
