Welcome back to the Monday Good News Roundup, where I gather up the cream of the internet crop to deliver you hearty steaming bowls of good news to fill the tummy and heal the soul.
Its the middle of August, still hot and miserable for me at least, and the election is looming in everyone’s mind. As Trump flails about in scheme after scheme to try and hang on to the Presidency, Biden’s impending victory seems all the more certain, but its up to us to make sure that happens. There can be no mistakes this time, we need to get out there and vote, and protect the institutions that let us vote, like the USPS, which is still under attack by Trump.
But enough of that for now, lets get on with the main event: The news.
The former Republican pointed specifically to the president’s characterization of women as either 50s-style suburban moms or “nasty” — the label he applied to Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) — with nothing in between.
“Trump’s America is a cynical and base place where people are identified as extreme avatars and insulting stereotypes instead of as complex individuals. But is it reality?’ Lewis asked. “This worldview helped him win in 2016, because enough voters believed the caricature he sold us about himself (a bogus image of wealth and success), as well as the image he sold us about others (Lyin’ Ted Cruz, Crooked Hillary, the ‘fake news’ media, you get it). But after nearly four years, it is helping him lose bigly in 2020.”
Yeah, even his own base is getting tired of Trumps bullshit, hard to believe as it is sometimes. Lets hope this trend continues and they abandon him when he’s out of office, so we can forget this stain on history except as a reminder to future generations.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Sunday she is calling the House back into session over the crisis at the U.S. Postal Service, setting up a political showdown amid growing concerns that the Trump White House is trying to undermine the agency ahead of the election.
Pelosi is cutting short lawmakers' summer recess with a vote expected the Saturday after the Democratic National Convention on legislation that would prohibit changes at the agency as tensions mount. President Donald Trump's new postmaster general, Louis DeJoy, has sparked nationwide outcry over delays, new prices and cutbacks just as millions of Americans will be trying to vote by mail to avoid polling places during the coronavirus outbreak.
“In a time of a pandemic, the Postal Service is Election Central," Pelosi wrote Sunday in a letter to colleagues, who had been expected to be out of session until September. “Lives, livelihoods and the life of our American Democracy are under threat from the president.”
The problem with announcing your evil plans as loudly as possible Trump is that people know they’re coming and will rush out to fight it. Trumps foolishness here will cost him dearly on more fronts than one.

"Trump’s calculated dismantling of USPS proves one thing clearly: He is WELL AWARE that we do not want him as our president. He’s chosen to blatantly cheat and put millions of Americans’ lives at risk in an effort to hold on to power,” the pop star tweeted.
I may have to put some Taylor Swift music on my Spotify now, Give em Hell Tay Sway.
Pop star and actress Cher said she hopes the "ground opens” when President Trump delivers his acceptance speech for the Republican nomination for president so that “WE NEVER SEE HIS UGLY FACE AGAIN.”
“IF 4 TIME DRAFT DODGER HAS THE MENDACITY 2 STEP A TOE ON GETTYSBURG,NATIONAL CEMETERY, TRYS 2 MAKE SPEACH, COMPARES HIMSELF 2 LINCOLN, HOPE GROUND OPENS, & WE NEVER SEE HIS UGLY FACE AGAIN,” wrote Cher. “Trump says ‘I’M WAR TIME PRESIDENT’. HARRIET COULD KICK HIS ASS & LED BLK SOLDIERS IN UNION ARMY.”
Wow, Cher not pulling any punches on Trump is she? This is turning into a rather star studded GNR.
With just a few weeks before people start mailing in their ballots in the 2020 presidential election — probably — Democrat Joe Biden maintains his steady lead over President Trump. A Fox News poll released Thursday had Biden up 7 percentage points, 49 percent to 42 percent, more or less even with his 8 point lead in the July Fox News poll, though down from Biden's 12 point chasm in June. Pew Research Center registered an 8 point advantage for Biden in its own survey Thursday, 53 percent to 45 percent — and Biden's main selling point, it seems, is that he isn't Trump.
You know Biden has a ton of good qualities and I like the man a lot, but I think the thing that’s gonna be elected is simply the level of X-pac heat on Trump. People just want him gone.
And speaking of gone, its time I got gone. Have a good morning and rest of the week all, I will see you around, remember to stay strong, stay vigilant, and stay hopeful, we can win this.
