CNBC is reporting that University of North Carolina — Chapel Hill (the big campus) is “halting all in-person classes” — article here. The cause (unsurprisingly):
The school said in a statement Monday that the Covid-19 “positivity” rate jumped to 13.6% as of Sunday from 2.8% a week before. “As of this morning, we have tested 954 students and have 177 in isolation and 349 in quarantine, both on and off campus.”
The article notes the 30,000 student campus is one of the largest to decide to go in person. Makes one wonder of the football season will continue as scheduled? If the ACC closes down, there will be real pressure on the remaining 3 of the Big 5 conferences.
Good to see that at least one of the big southern football conference schools (albeit in a state with a Democratic governor) has a lick of sense.
