Some more good news today out of Maine courtesy of PPP’s latest poll on behalf of MoveOn.org:
A new Public Policy Polling survey finds that President Trump’s handling of the US Postal Service is deeply unpopular among Maine voters, and even less popular than his overall job performance. Less than a third (31%) of voters approve of his handling of the USPS, while a majority (56%) disapprove. This leaves him 25 points underwater, compared to his 14 points overall, where just 41% of Mainers approve of his job performance and 55% disapprove.
A majority (53%) also believe that President Trump is intentionally damaging the US Postal Service in order to help him win reelection in November, and there is widespread support for the USPS and vote-by-mail initiatives.

69% think the USPS is critical to the nation during the coronavirus pandemic, while just 22% disagree.

61% think Louis DeJoy’s investments in USPS competitors are a conflict of interest, while just 25% disagree.

57% support Congress taking action to fully fund the post office to maintain the level of service prior to the changes recently made by the Postmaster General, while just 29% oppose it.

57% oppose a potential executive action from Trump that would curb vote-by-mail and damage the USPS financially, while just 29% support it.
The survey also finds Senator Susan Collins trailing her opponent, Democrat Sara Gideon, by 4 points (49-44).
Public Policy Polling surveyed 571 Maine voters from August 13-14, 2020. The margin of error is +/- 4.1%. The survey was conducted by text message.
