The National Butterfly Center is a private nature preserve which serves as an outdoor butterfly conservatory. It is located adjacent to Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, near the city of Mission in Hidalgo County, Texas.
Inconveniently, the land they control is where some folks want to built a wall. In fact, they are currently engaged in a lawsuit against We Build The Wall over erosion caused by one of its projects.
Needless to say the Wall builders haven’t been too happy about this, and, In typical Bannon and rabid right wing fashion, they’ve gone after the Center ruthlessly. Brian Kolfage, a founder of Build The Wall, and one of those arrested along with Bannon this morning, has gone after them on Twitter, accusing them of helping drug cartels and calling them “left wing thugs with a sham butterfly agenda.”
So, I’ll cut the Butterfly Center some slack for engaging in a bit of schadenfreude today:
(Hey — just getting started on Twitter — might you consider following me for a bit? @ADCWonk1)
