How About We Go Ahead and Win Florida?

It has come to my attention that members of my own party have questioned my motives. Let me set the record straight.

I got into this race because this election cycle is the most important of my life at both the national and state level. This is not something I ever saw myself doing. I never intended to be a political candidate. I was perfectly content with simply assisting and contributing donations to candidates like Angie Nixon, Karen Butler, and Kathy Lewis, but stepped up to run in the 116th District because this was a race that was otherwise going to be handed to the GOP incumbent unopposed. This happens far too often in Florida -- which is why Fergie Reid Jr. and others spent the spring recruiting candidates for every single race, including me. This will help Joe Biden and Kamala Harris defeat Donald Trump.

District 116, along with many others across the state, is far more competitive than those who decided it should be written off believe. We need to support candidates running everywhere in Florida, something that many incumbents have proven themselves to be completely not up to the task of doing. We all have to do our part and running for this office is clearly the best use of my privilege.

In the end, we should all be judged by our deeds, not words -- which is why -- win or lose, I will do my best to secure Florida's 29 Electoral College votes for Joe Biden. I will do my best to provide a critical check on Governor Ron DeSantis -- whose incompetence and arrogance has cost lives. I will do my best to make sure the voters of the 116th District have their voices heard. Please join me.
