OK, technically the Nature Walk isn’t in the Botanical Garden—it’s part of the agricultural center next door. But a walk through the Garden followed by a few laps around the Nature Trail is a great way to spend the afternoon.
Some photos.
The Natural Area covers around 90 acres
Juvenile Five Lined Skink
Softshell Turtle
I’m always happy to see a snakey. Black Racer.
Dragonfly watches me
Youngling Alligator watches me too
Black Vulture perches on a utility pole
Invasive vs invasive: Tilapia snacking on Hydrilla.
Hawk buzzes by overhead. (Hawks all look alike to me, so I can’t give an ID.)
Water Lilies
Harvester Ants
Swallowtails — I think they are a Giant Swallowtail and a Spicebush.
