So they finally released the list of speakers for the impending Irwin Allen Level Four Day Disaster, aka the GOP confab:
Looking past the MAGA Hat kid and Gated Community Bonnie and Clyde, a couple of points of interest here:
Sec. of State Pompeo will speak on Tuesday, and HUD Sec. Ben Carson will also speak. Cabinet members traditionally don't campaign for the POTUS they serve under, and don't participate in political events like conventions. Then again, there's the whole bit about Trump giving his acceptance speech from the South Lawn of the White House and Trophy FLOTUS and Natasha Fatale stand-in Melania Trump speaking from the desecrated Rose Garden along with all the ancillary issues that surround their rantings.
Second, interesting who's not showing up, and I'm not counting Sen. Romney and other Never Trumpers. No Ted Cruz. No Marco Rubio. Very surprisingly no Rick Scott or Ron Johnson. No pro-Trump governors like DeSantis or Kemp, other than Noem. No Dem. equivalent of Kasich or Powell endorsing Trump. The only Senator I could see in the list who's in a competitive re-election race this year is Joni Ernst of Iowa, no Gardner, Lindsey Graham, McSally or Collins.
Let me repeat that: LINDSEY GRAHAM, TRUMP’S BIGGEST FLUFFER IN THE SENATE, WON’T SPEAK AT THE GOP CONVENTION.
No Scott Baio, Kevin Sorbo, Dean Cain or Anthony Sabato, Jr. either. But who needs them when you've got a MAGA hat wearing kid who condescendingly smirked at a Native American elder?
UPDATED: Edited to remove Mitch McConnell from the list of non-speakers.
