Welcome to what is the 905th original profile here at “Crazy/Stupid Republican of the Day”, where we’ll be discussing U.S. Senator Cory Gardner of Colorado, who after serving in the Colorado House of Representatives from 2004-2010, used the momentum of the Tea Party Wave in 2010 to get elected to Congress to represent Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, got a second term in the House after his constituency had Fort Collins cut out of it to make it more conservative for him to win in 2012, and then in 2014, made the jump to U.S. Senate.
So how did a young Republican like Cory Gardner become a Senator Gardner as his state has trended from purple to blue, its Democratic state legislature has produced models of progressive policy that he opposes, but have been raging successes, and Gardner has been inexplicably left as the last Republican in state-wide office left standing?
Is it because he’s one of the most moderate members of the GOP Senate right now?
Oh, make no mistake… HE’S FULL OF S***.
He says he doesn’t support “Personhood”? Guess what, his voting record says otherwise, from the Colorado state legislature to his time in the Senate. He says he’s a moderate on LGBTQ Rights? Look at his f***ing voting record.
He says he wouldn’t support or vote for Donald Trump anymore in 2016 and he should “step aside”?
Criticizing him after his “both sides” comments after Charlottesville?
Gardner’s fallen in line, voted for all his Cabinet and judicial appointees, and now has endorsed him in 2020, after ALL the corruption, treason, and disappointment. While giving Trump the credit for all the positives in Colorado that are actually the Governor and state legislature’s doing.
That’s his whole game. Lie about being a moderate, while having a voting record that still supports Republican policies nine out of ten times. Need more evidence? Let’s go to the rundown of the past decade:
- On January 5th, 2011, Rep. Gardner votes the first attempt by Republicans to repeal the Affordable Care Act. He has voted for almost every attempt to do so since.
- On February 18th, 2011, Cory Gardner votes to defund Planned Parenthood.
- March 17th, 2011: Rep. Gardner votes to cut funding to National Public Radio.
- September 15th, 2012: Rep. Gardner votes for the “No More Solyndras Act”.
- September 21st, 2012: Gardner co-sponsors and votes for the “Stop the War on Coal Act”.
- January 15th, 2013: Cory Gardner votes against Disaster Relief Funding for victims of Hurricane Sandy.
- February 28th, 2013: Gardner votes against the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.
- June 19th, 2013: Cory Gardner votes against restoring $20.5 billion towards the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.
- September 30th, 2013: Rep. Gardner votes for the 2013 Government Shutdown.
When the vote came up seventeen days later to re-open the government, Gardner voted to keep it closed.
- Feb 26th, 2014: Cory Gardner goes “all in” on the faux-scandal surrounding the IRS researching SuperPACs by voting for the “Stop the Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act”.
- July 10th, 2014: Gardner votes for House Amendment 1040, to prevent the implementation of the dreaded United Nations Agenda 21 Treaty, that in spite of just being recommended climate change guidelines, have many conspiracy theorists within the extreme right convinced it’s a plot for global domination.
- January 6th, 2015: Gardner votes for the Keystone XL Pipeline.
- Sept. 24th, 2015: Gardner votes to defund Planned Parenthood, based on conservative outrage over a video concocted by the Center for Medical Progress that had been repeatedly debunked by investigators, and eventually resulted in the CMP being hit with criminal charges.
- December 3rd, 2015: Sen. Gardner votes to protect the right of people on terror watch lists to still buy guns and explosives.
- June 20th, 2016: Cory Gardner votes to protect the right for people to transfer their guns and explosives to people on terror watch lists.
- July 25th, 2017: Gardner votes for the BCRA, aka Trumpcare.
- December 20th, 2017: Sen. Gardner votes for the GOP Tax Plan/Scam, that places the burden of taxation upon the working class and almost none upon our country’s billionaires.
- October 6th, 2018: Cory Gardner votes to put accused rapist Brett Kavanaugh onto the Supreme Court.
- February 14th, 2019: Gardner votes to approve the nomination of William Barr to be the country’s Attorney General, even though he was involved in the Iran-Contra scandal in the 1980s. (SPOILER ALERT: He’s still crooked as a snake with scoliosis).
- January 31st, 2020: Sen. Gardner votes against witnesses being allowed in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump, effectively making it a “trial”.
- February 5th, 2020: Cory Gardner votes against the impeachment of Donald Trump, in spite of the mountain of evidence showing that he solicited foreign assistance in the 2020 elections.
- February 25th, 2020: Gardner co-sponsors and votes for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, an insane piece of anti-choice legislation that would ask abortion providers to try to admit aborted fetuses to a hospital if they were “alive” after the procedure, which is medically impossible given the age that abortions can be performed at.
Cory Gardner was thought to be the most vulnerable Senator going into the 2020 elections, perhaps with only Sen. Susan Collins giving him a run for his money. The fact that he’s being challenged by former two-term Governor John Hickenlooper did not help his fortunes, and most polling has him down double digits.
It’s looking like this might be the only time we profile this duplicitous muppet, and his fraudulent “moderate” legacy.
