Welcome to another Monday edition of the Good News Roundup, and the news is especially good this week, coming off of the one two punch of Biden accepting the Democrat nomination for Presidency, and the the arrest of mass of tumors and feces vaguely shaped like a man Steve Bannon, its been a red letter week for our side.
Of course this week its going to be the RNC, aka the Donald Trump Show Starring Donald Trump, with special guest star frightened gun wielding white people, which I’m sure will be a train wreck, so lets get on with the good news.
In the 15-hour long recordings, which were published by The Washington Post on Saturday, Barry, 83, did not hold back when speaking about her brother, 74, and how he's handled the presidency.
"All he wants to do is appeal to his base,” Barry, a former federal judge, said in one recording. “He has no principles. None. None. And his base, I mean my God, if you were a religious person, you want to help people. Not do this.”
Scathing words to be sure from Trumps older sister, I guess she wont be a guest star on the Donald Trump show this week.
And speaking of people who are leaving the series…
Conway, the first woman to manage a winning presidential campaign, said in a statement that she’s leaving to focus on her family. Her husband, George Conway, said on Twitter that he was leaving the Lincoln Project, a political group committed to defeating Trump’s re-election in November.
“We disagree about plenty but we are united on what matters most: the kids,” Kellyanne Conway said in the statement.
Okay, can we just stop for a second and consider here: One of the members of the Lincoln Project, the Republican group that has been needling Trump for months now, was Kellyanne Conway’s husband? That had to make things uncomfortable.
Well, I think she’s doing the right thing by leaving Trumps clown show and focusing on her marriage, I hope things go well for her and her family, and that she learns something from this whole mess.
The former FBI director James Comey has said Steve Bannon is “in a world of trouble”, after the former Trump campaign manager and White House adviser was arrested on a charge of skimming donations from a fundraising campaign for a wall on the border with Mexico.
This guy on the other hand I don’t have any use for.
Either of them honestly, I mean Comey wasn’t the only contributing factor to Hillary’s loss in 2016, but he sure as heck didn’t help matters. But I am really talking about the platonic ideal of a sack of wet donkey manure, Steven Bannon, whose comeuppance has finally come it seems. I recall when Trump was elected and everyone was convinced this two bit grifter was some kind of evil mastermind, and now here we are, four years later, and he and the Alt right are pretty much in shambles, as I predicted they would be, they shriveled in the light of the public eye like a raisin in the sun, and have gone back to lurking in the chans and reddits where they belong (until they inevitably get blasted from there as well).
The Republican Party announced in a press release Sunday that they would not pass a Republican Party Platform at their convention in 2020. Democrats had their regular committees and caucuses, which debated and handled the business of a political party. Republicans won’t be able to handle that with just a few weeks to set up the event.
Hang on let me plug in my fax machine, I’m expecting an important document from the Republican party because they’re pretty clearly PHONING IT IN.
I mean I can't blame them, enthusiasm among the GOP must be at an all time low right now, since they’ve decided to saddle themselves to Trump, and Trump only cares about himself, They’re screwed and they know it.
Trump has questioned Biden’s mental fitness, calling him “not all there” and “mentally shot.”
But Biden chuckled when asked about it by ABC’s David Muir.
“Watch me, Mr. President, watch me,” he said. “Look at us both. Look at us both, what we say, what we do, what we control, what we know, what kind of shape we’re in. Come on”
Nice to see an actual adult who knows how to handle being insulted. Its so refreshing. I hope he wins, and we are going to make that happen.
That does it for this week. Everyone take care of yourselves; Stay safe, stay healthy, and stay hopeful, we can win this.
