Getting a little bit sick of QAnon morons posting on my page about phony pedophile rings in pizza parlors, yet are totally cool with actual creeps like Roy Moore, Jim Jordan, and Epstein’s friend Donald Trump. Well, here’s another Republican name I’m going to throw in their face. His name is Brian Mast. He’s the incumbent 40-year old Republican for Florida’s CD-18, which is a swing district.
He has been accused of not doing much for his district, but he did finally make news this week. Unfortunately, it was for the wrong reasons. Recently discovered remarks he made on Facebook were just brought to light:
The first comment was made in February 2009 during a South African bar outing of his now campaign manager Rocco LeDonni. Brian Mast wished him well:
Mast: im so proud of you ... i hope you hook up with at least fifteen 15 year olds over there ... . its legel [sic] there right
Gross.
Two years later, in May 2011, he was at it again with this hilarious line to a question LeDonni asked: "Anyone have any good pick up lines for this weekend considering according to the crazy christian radio guy the world may end on sunday?"
Mast: How about don't turn this rape into a murder
W.T.F.?
Brian Mast was forced to apologize, but added a few qualifiers. You see, it was many years ago and he was injured. A “source” told the The Hill that he was on a lot of medications, which surely contributed to his behavior. Lord knows that drugs cause rape jokes. After all, didn’t Roseanne prove to everyone that her Ambien caused her racism? So sure. Fox News and other pro-Trump outlets didn’t even try to defend, they just didn’t bring it up. Not newsworthy. I’m sure if he was a Democrat, they’d have made the same decision.
His opponent, Pam Keith, a former Navy JAG officer, didn’t hold back:
"This is disgusting, unacceptable and dishonorable behavior for any man, let alone a sitting member of Congress. Rape, violence and intimidation of women and children are not Brian Mast's punchline — his words are an insult and betrayal to the women he claims to represent."
A former campaign consultant, Jacob Perry, agreed with Keith, saying Mast’s words were “disgusting”, “inexusable” and regretted his association with Mast.
He added that he wouldn’t be able to use his injuries as a shield this time.
This is one of the most despicable things about Mast. As an injured veteran, he could have stood up to Trump with some authority when Trump insulted our veterans, POWs, Gold Star families, or war widows. Instead, Mast kept quiet and even stumped for him. But he’ll damn sure try to use his injuries to get out of this mess. As Perry said, “disgusting.”
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is acknowledging that Mast is in a “tough re-election fight” in one of South Florida’s “most competitive swing districts.” Mast supported Trump over 90% of the time, which is out of step for this district. His inexcusable remarks and weak apology just made that even clearer.
Florida’s CD-18 deserves Pam Keith. She is a real progressive who actually believes in protecting women and children. You can learn more about her here.
Please help Pam Keith get elected. Mast really has got to go.
