Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia QAnon conspiracy theorist and embodiment of Donald Trump's Republican Party is going to the big show at the White House Thursday night. She got her personal, fake-gold-embossed invitation and is "honored and thrilled to be invited to attend President Trump's acceptance speech."
You remember Greene—she's the whack-job who likes to blast out racist videos on social media in which she complains of "an 'Islamic invasion' into government offices, claims Black and Hispanic men are held back by 'gangs and dealing drugs,' and pushes an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that billionaire philanthropist George Soros, who is Jewish, collaborated with the Nazis." That's in addition to her QAnon support. CNN dug in this week and found her promoting the QAnon orthodoxy of "Pizzagate" and speculating that the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville—the tiki torch riot—and the death of counterprotester Heather Heyer were an "inside job."
That was in 2017 and 2018 when she was writing for a now-defunct site called American Truth Seekers. The site, which stopped operating in 2019, still has live links to Greene's work as a "correspondent," where she wrote Charlottesville was an "inside job" to "further the agenda of the elites." That agenda was a "coordinated war" by President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders to overthrow Trump. "What would be the agenda of the elites? Hmm.. Remember Barack Obama's roots are in community organizing," she wrote. "As a matter of fact that's about all he did before he became President. It's also been reported that Obama has an office set up in Washington DC that is being run like a war room, with daily meetings. What would they be up to?"
She's also speculated that the Obama administration was in league with a street gang to murder Seth Rich, is a 9/11 truther—because of course she has—and tried to storm the Capitol to attempt to make Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, who are Muslim and were sworn in using the Quran, retake their oaths of office using the Christian Bible. She claimed that they aren't legitimately serving because they were sworn in on the Quran and that she wanted to tell them they "really should go back to the Middle East if they support Sharia." Lovely.
Greene also once posted on Facebook that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should be impeached for "crimes of treason," pointing out that treason is "a crime punishable by death," because Pelosi would not provide funding for Trump's border wall. All of this suggests that Greene's potential, and likely, seat in Congress presents a very real danger to other lawmakers. Who knows what she might inspire her fellow QAnon followers to do? She could bring dangerous, violent extremists into the Capitol as her guests.
For now, she'll be a guest at the White House. Because of course she is. Trump lauded her as a "future Republican Star" when she won her primary, "a real WINNER!"
