They’re still doing this thing. Tonight’s line-up is shaping up as a bit of a snooze-fest, frankly. And very, very white. Because it’s headlined by the Pences (where Veep goes, mother must follow). He’ll be appearing from Baltimore's Fort McHenry, whose defense of the city's harbor from the British in the War of 1812 inspired the writing of "The Star-Spangled Banner." And in what is totally on point for this administration, the historic site has already been damaged by the hurried construction of the “stage, mobile broadcast center and infrastructure” the speech required. Perfect.
Also Sen. Joni Ernst will be there because someone convinced her that this was the thing to do when she’s in a very tight spot in her reelection campaign? They haven’t completely blown their nepotism wad, allowing the lowest Trump in the pecking order, Lara (Eric’s wife), onstage tonight. Kellyanne Conway will also be there, so there’s a very real chance that we’ll get yelled at again. It’s one of her last chances, since she’s leaving the White House soon because her daughter hates her. It’ll be everywhere, again, cable, broadcast stations, YouTube, Facebook, starting either at 8, 8:30, or 9 PM ET depending on your chosen outlet.
