In a cease and desist demand that completely destroyed any remaining semblance of a line separating the Trump Org. and the Executive Branch, Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere leveled an overt threat at the Washington Post’s David Fahrenthold, according to a report by the Washingtonian. The Post is a favorite target of Donald Trump, and Fahrenthold in particular is a thorn in the side of the Trump family as a whole, one it appears they want to excise using the power of the White House. Fahrenthold’s in-depth reports on the Trump’s many ongoing grifts are destined to become roadmaps for investigators, should voters excise Donald et al. from the People’s House in November.
Deere—who, it must be emphasized, is an employee of the federal government—directed his demand to the Post after the paper requested comment on Fahrenthold’s latest, a deep dive into the $900,000+ in charges billed to the Federal Government by the Trump Org. In his communication, Deere demanded that the Post stop reporting on Trump Org. business dealings, stating, “The Washington Post is blatantly interfering with the business relationships of the Trump Organization, and it must stop.”
This is a federal employee, one that works in the White House, communicating with a well-known news outlet in a country that guarantees press freedom, ordering that the news outlet completely back off from covering the dealings of a private business owned by the President, and threatening an employee of the news outlet with retribution if its demands aren’t met. No questions remain: the White House is a subsidiary of Trump’s business.
Not to be hyperbolic, but if I was Fahrenthold I wouldn’t go wandering into any consulate buildings for awhile.
