Stephen Colbert made a really good point last night. He said, “I did not watch the RNC tonight. Uh, because I don’t know why I would give air to their lies again. Um, I suppose I’ll try again tomorrow night to see if I can get through it.” I watched it and have some regret at pissing away the time on a parade of lies and other reality stretching idiocy.
Last night they added a lying nun, another tRump family member making $15,000 per month as a campaign consultant (Lara)*. some more Hatch act violations (including doing damage to Fort McHenry), a new signer of the Declaration of Independence, a fake Lincoln quote and Pence’s description of a Donald that doesn’t exist. It was even more boring than night 2.
It seems the rest of the country is tired of the endless lies as well. Viewership for night 3 was the worst of the week so far. Their ratings have run well behind the Democratic Convention every night. Bunker Boi cannot be happy. The only question left is will tRump stay on teleprompter and do that sing song reading thing or go off the rails and blow up any of the positive lies his sycophants have told about him these last three nights.
It looks like they are not going to delay tonght’s performance of Liarpalooza 2020 Day 4 and work on a federal response to Hurricane Laura instead. Aside from Mango Mussolini’s speech, we will also hear from Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell (and Ivanka, Rudy, Ben Carson, Tom Cotton, Jeff van Drew and Franklin Graham).
We understand that McConnell and McCarthy are deeply invested in the dark dystopian republican fantasy they use to scare their base into supporting their candidates. They are also self-aware enough to know when they are blowing hallucinogenic smoke up the country’s ass. They’ve proven it time and time again through the testimony of their own words. By continuing to prop up a man of limited intellect, less skill and worse judgement they’ve done far more than sacrifice their principles and integrity — they’ve also sacrificed their humanity.
The contrast between Democrats and republicans has never been starker. Republicans stand for profit over safety, party over country, lunacy over science, guns over lives, oppression over freedom and evil over good. Democrats stand for the inverse.
No lie, no matter how ludicrous, is too much for the republican party to push out to their gullible followers. The pleas for money have gotten so bad that tRump supporters are going start claiming displaced Nigerian princes and the tRump Organization as dependents on their tax forms.
We’ve just received word of the release of a new map of the world, created just for republicans. It’s called the Mendacioucator Projection and divides the planet into lines of flatitude and suckitude. It is centered on and emanates from Donald’s stern foundation. Interestingly, his stern foundation is also the source of all his thoughts and pronouncements.
*I wonder if they had to take their ads off the air because of all the people making $15,000 a month is eating up more money than they are bilking out of their base.
