Grammy-nominated, Emmy Award-winning and New York Times best-selling author, actor and comedian Jim Gaffigan had somewhat of an epiphany watching trump last night. The mild-mannered comic fired off a set of tweets, aimed not at trump but at trump supporters. He even threw in a few f-bombs, he was obviously ticked off. It’s not something he has done before. Jim Gaffigan’s stand-up routines and writings are generally about fatherhood, observations of life, laziness, and food. He is not known for using profanity in his routines.

Not sure what difference this set of tweets will make, hope it does; after all, Gaffigan have a wide following. Knowing that Gaffigan is a writer and a stage performer, this is probably not an off-the-cuff rant, but something he has been crafting in his mind for a while and something he has felt in his heart.
We rarely see Democrats directly address republican supporters, assuming it will make no difference. But the technique can be effective — because the message also energizes Democrats, while it has the potential to change a few minds through shame, guilt and realization. It also gives us some talking points we can use when addressing our conservative friends. And the points will certainly resonate within our base too.
