Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share a virtual kitchen table with other readers of Daily Kos who aren’t throwing pies at one another. Drop by to talk about music, your weather, your garden, or what you cooked for supper…. Newcomers may notice that many who post in this series already know one another to some degree, but we welcome guests at our kitchen table and hope to make some new friends as well. |
If you remember my previous adventure with wind bringing down tree branches and limbs that land on my house. most of my time was spent trying to figure out how to bring down overhanging branches so that they wouldn’t bring down the power lines. This time it was a 100+ pound main trunk overhanging the roof.
I got the overhanging tree trunk down but unlike my previous adventure I was a bad empiricist and could have saved myself some trouble with the back gate, on which the sawed piece landed.
I am up to eight holes in the roof but at least the rest of the work there is manageable. Patching and sawing the remaining trunk and limbs into smaller pieces and throwing them off the roof. Then figuring out who can redo the roof without ripping me off. As I have mentioned, guys who come to the door offering roofing services are interesting if only to discern their bad sales technique. The age of Trump has made us all aware of such approaches.
Say there, pilgrim your roof sucks, maybe you should get it redone, here’s our card,
I spent far too much time calculating how I could pivot the overhanging piece onto the roof and not enough on how the damn thing spins before it hits the ground.
I am worn out as usual. I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK.
Because this is artful:
Life would be better in miniature.
More lies this time with Lego.
Hegel on the English: "Nowhere more than in England is the prejudice so fixed and so naive that if birth and wealth give a man office they also give him brains."
70% less bird carnage is a good thing, even if there are other methods of modifying migratory patterns.
Pretty pricey, but I might need at least some kind of Tiny Home in my back yard.
It’s bad enough that I have to put a piece of tape on the cellphone lenses
