I’ve been a volunteer phone/text banker for the Biden campaign for a month and while there have been some good things the campaign done-text banking is fantastic, there are also some things that could make volunteers lives and the Biden campaign better. Yes, I’ve already given this list to my leaders.
1)Have Biden make some appearances in swing states, in a safe way. Most of the concerns of undecided voters come from worrying that Joe has dementia and is being kept cocooned away. GOP propaganda is 100% more effective then the DNC. Showing him would do a lot to combat people’s fear.
2)Explain defunding the police. Don’t just say it’s a lie, keep reinforcing that Biden wants to take money from some programs and retrain them. And please this plan on your website. It’s the single most important issue now and no where is it address on JoeBiden.com
4)Don’t just say you would lockdown America again with Covid because a President can’t do that. Explain that unlike Trump, you would coordinate with all the states governors for a plan.
5)Finally-don’t just go after Trump on Covid-19. The GOP has said, and people believe, that Trump is for law and order. Tell the people all the people around Trump who have been indicted and all the government rules he has broken(Hatch Act). Ask if he’s such a law and order guy, why does he break the law everyday?
The Democratic Party’s weakness is assuming everyone is intelligent and will read and think about policies. Many people are busy enough and only get news from Facebook/Twitter and the 2 minute segments on the news. Biden/Harris need to tell the American people their vision of the future in a 2 minute elevator pitch, something Hillary was unable to do. There are many voters who don’t love Trump but have the above misgivings about Biden. If the campaign can address these issues, I believe they have a good chance of winning.
