Associated Press, The Guardian,The Washington Post and live on MSNBC with Alicia Menendez. How many more times does a candidate need to be on national media for her state political party to back her up?
This is the question being asked by Kelly Johnson and many around this working class single mother of 8 as she fights to win district 65 and knock out the incoming speaker of the house, Chris Sprowls.
It’s a classic tale. A red District. A critical swing state. A party that was desperately seeking someone to represent them to oppose the deep seated incumbent. Enter Kelly Johnson, off the wings of a government disaster... the Florida Unemployment System. Their savior.
Kelly has received no money from the state party as of this date. The big endorsements won’t touch her race. She has run her campaign 100% grassroots, and juggles children along with the demands of a high profile race. She’s being interviewed several times a week both locally and nationally while her inbox Is full of denials from local donors and from her state party referring to her as the “sacrificial lamb”. This David vs. Goliath story that is being played out in front of the entire nation is just another example of the real thing that needs to be fixed going forward... the Florida Democratic Party.
Will you donate to help support her? She’s going to fight until she no longer can. But she can’t do it alone and on a shoestring budget. Donate by clicking the link below and follow her story on twitterFollow Kelly
