Welp, first of all, Happy September 1, everybuddy! Just a little over 2 months to go — please write some postcards, make some calls, help people get proper ID; do a little something, whatever is in your wheelhouse, to help get those eligible nonvoters to the polls! I thank you and democracy thanks you.
Now, on to our evening break for aminal fun! Our odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right?
Lately, every day seems to be many holidays! Which is good, because we all have our favorites. So I will pick out one, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. Every day in our house is Ginger appreciation day, but today it’s official!
Ginger says, “Welp, it’s about time!”
But really it’s only peripherally about my Ginger (sorry sweetie) (bolding mine):
Ginger cats refers to the orange tabby cats that are so unique in their coloring and demeanor. There are many to be found throughout the animal rescue world though not all are as special as Doobert. Today is ginger cat appreciation day and we want to remind you about a very special ginger cat named Doobert who helped revolutionize animal rescue transport forever. Animals play such an important part in our lives and many times they inspire us to greatness that we never thought we had within us.

“where do you go all night, tig?”

kitties eat then disappear
no one knows just where
they are so sleek and so slim
any crack is wide enough
Dreamin of alternate worlds
how fascinating
how strange to visualize –
our tig slipping through
into this alternate world
known only to the feline
i’ve often seen tig
blank, staring off into space,
his feet in motion,
hunting in this paradise
where no effort will recall
Huntin an’ claimin the wild catnip toy
[The only info on Daver Austin claims he is an international poet. However, there is a David Austin who breeds roses, one of which he calls “The Poet’s Wife”. If he’s the same person, that’s an interesting combination!]
