U.S. Congressional candidate challenging Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) in Florida’s 1st District, retired Navy Commander Phil Ehr, is challenging Gaetz to a series of debates.
Florida’s 1st district has not held a debate for the congressional seat in decades due to the hold Republicans had within this district until now. According to recent polling done by Lake Research Partners, Congressman Matt Gaetz is in a vulnerable position. The data shows that Gaetz has made himself extremely unpopular showing weakness, especially among unaffiliated voters who will likely determine this election.
“Floridians deserve to hear from Matt Gaetz about why he thinks he deserves another term as our representative,” Ehr stated. “Elected officials are accountable to their constituents and I would expect nothing different once I am in office. It is our civic responsibility to showcase how we would represent those living in our district.”
Northwest Florida is still seeing an elevated number of Coronavirus cases, a looming job market, and uncertainty as it relates to when the area may turn the curve. The current decision facing leaders is not about dollars and cents, it is about values and priorities.
Ehr concluded, “It is wrong in the richest country in the world to watch our neighbors, our workers, our families--anybody in our communities-- go without food, without housing, without health care, without jobs when we are facing the greatest crisis of our lifetimes”.
