The “Fake News” is just a figment of Donald Trump’s fragile ego. A mental construct he tells himself, so he can continue his charade — day after pathetic Donald-day.
Trump doesn’t want to talk about McCain’s legacy.
But the White House’s reaction to McCain’s death was noticeably muted. Trump reportedly refused to comment on McCain’s decision to stop brain cancer treatment and rejected the White House staff’s plans to issue a statement praising McCain’s legacy after he died, saying he preferred to send a tweet. The Washington Post’s Josh Dawsey reported:
Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Chief of Staff John F. Kelly and other White House aides advocated for an official statement that gave the decorated Vietnam War POW plaudits for his military and Senate service and called him a “hero,” according to current and former White House aides, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations. The original statement was drafted before McCain died Saturday, and Sanders and others edited a final version this weekend that was ready for the president, the aides said.
Trump’s tweet acknowledging McCain’s death did not address McCain’s legacy. And on Trump’s Instagram page, a post addressing the senator’s death featured a picture of Trump. [...]
Just to put the exclamation point on Trump’s stubborn refusal to say anything nice about the veteran John McCain:
On Monday, he refused to answer shouted questions on McCain’s legacy. He sat silent with his arms crossed:
Could this have been because “Donnie-Deferment” had no intention of backing-down from his prior public disrespecting of this pinnacle of honorable Vets — not even at the time of death …
I doubt “Resident Bone-spurs” could have lasted one day in the Hanoi Hilton POW prison, that Senator John McCain endured for 5 years!
Yet Trump saw his hallowed sacrificed as nothing but another opportunity for him to spread conspiracy theories, another chance to disparage McCain’s service and sacrifice:

Fast-forward to Donald Trump’s week of reckoning:
In this last week we are learning more about the very character of our Coward-in-Chief. The Atlantic has cited several Trump Administration officials, who put Trump’s Military-disrespect into the bluntest of terms:
Trump’s understanding of concepts such as patriotism, service, and sacrifice has interested me since he expressed contempt for the war record of the late Senator John McCain, who spent more than five years as a prisoner of the North Vietnamese. “He’s not a war hero,” Trump said in 2015 while running for the Republican nomination for president. “I like people who weren’t captured.”

Trump remained fixated on McCain, one of the few prominent Republicans to continue criticizing him after he won the nomination. When McCain died, in August 2018, Trump told his senior staff, according to three sources with direct knowledge of this event, “We’re not going to support that loser’s funeral,” and he became furious, according to witnesses, when he saw flags lowered to half-staff. “What the fuck are we doing that for? Guy was a fucking loser,” the president told aides. Trump was not invited to McCain’s funeral. (These sources, and others quoted in this article, spoke on condition of anonymity. The White House did not return earlier calls for comment, [...]
Trump’s understanding of heroism has not evolved since he became president. According to sources with knowledge of the president’s views, he seems to genuinely not understand why Americans treat former prisoners of war with respect. Nor does he understand why pilots who are shot down in combat are honored by the military. On at least two occasions since becoming president, according to three sources with direct knowledge of his views, Trump referred to former President George H. W. Bush as a “loser” for being shot down by the Japanese as a Navy pilot in World War II. (Bush escaped capture, but eight other men shot down during the same mission were caught, tortured, and executed by Japanese soldiers.)

I doubt “Donnie-Dipstick” could figure out how to get a plane off the ground — let alone evade being shot down, in a hail of artillery …
Hell “Resident-Ruskie” couldn’t figure out how to get his own Military Helicopter off the ground — in a steady drizzle — in order to honor the fallen — in a centennial commemoration of World War One in France.
A Post-contemporaneous Look at the Loser-in-Chief's in-action, on this solemn Anniversary Memorial
All the other world leaders somehow figured out how to honor those WWI Vets — except one:
