I am the youngest of a family of 12 children. I am now 77 years old. There were 6 boys and 6 girls.
Of the six boys, five of us were in the military. The oldest had serious heart problems and could not
serve. ( Way more serious than bone spurs)! One of my sisters was a Marine.
The next oldest, Jack, joined the Marines at a young age, when discharged he joined the Navy and
retired after 20 years service. My brother Mike, joined the Marines at a young age and served in
Korea. When discharged he joined the Navy and served for 8 years.
My brother George, joined the Marines and served 3 years. My Brother Harvey joined the Air
Force and served 4 years. My sister Helen joined the Marines and served 2 years. I joined
the Navy after high school and served 4 years. One deployment to Viet Nam on the U.S.S. Enterprise.
My sister’s husband William retired after 20 years in the Marines and 2 tours in
Vietnam.
My brother in law, Vincent, served 3 years in the Marines, and was seriously wounded in Viet Nam.
My sister in law Patricia, served in the Army.
Don’t you dare call anyone of us a loser or a sucker. We served our country honorably and asked
nothing in return. As did the thousands of dead from many wars.
