or just plain "weird", experiences.....
Some put it down to metaphysics.
Some general oddness...…
Some people even believe that it is entirely explainable....
=======================================
(And I have actually had a few myself):
*
"Doors open themselves"
One of my seeming "experiences" with the supernatural(or something),
took place in the 80s.
At the time I was living at my parents, in an "older"(comparatively),
Tudor house. Since we were kids, we had been creeped out by the place, as we had had a few odd "frights" which i can't particularly recall, now.
it was very cool looking, and it was built probably in 1918 (I believe it said that in the fireplace). that isn't terribly old compared to some houses, but it was old enough...and it seemed filled with dark crannies, and had an attic.
(You may also remember that Rochester New York is the home of spiritualism, and is allegedly supposed to have " vibes ")
*
My brother and I(as mentioned) had had a fair few creepy experiences growing up there, and many people staying over in our house actually told us they had had creepy experiences, too.Friends had (actually) told us that they had heard people walking around, or even seen someone, whilst staying. So it really had a vibe, and seemed off, somehow, despite being rather beautiful.
*
The house was attractive, It was a typical Tudor, and backed up to a little wood.
As I had been raised Catholic, I was horribly superstitious, and believed in simply everything. Having read the Exorcist at far too young an age,
and having watched every monster movie possible I was very susceptible to these fears, as was my younger brother. We both often had nightmares in the house, and sometimes about it.
But we loved it too, and played(by day) in the attic and basement.
Or the wood or dark garage.
*
At the time of my experience, my parents and brother were away on holiday,
at our Summer house on the lake, by Canada.
I was home hanging out, and also watching our two dogs. I was around 18 I think.
It was the middle of the night, it was summer(probably August),and it had begun to pelt with rain, and thunder and lightning, and high winds.
Our one husky (we had two)began to howl outside,as she didn't particularly like thunder and lightning.... I reluctantly stumbled up out of a sound sleep, and went out to bring her in. Then I began going round to close windows, and as soon as I closed up the house, and was blearily finishing closing the front door, our two old wooden and glass doors in our living room suddenly popped open completely, and began to slowly open all the way, into the living room, banging against their respective walls.(Just like in horror movies.) It would seem to be an atmospheric phenomenon, but it happened when everything was closed, so it was strangely shocking...
As it was about 3:45 in the morning, and as the storm and wind were going on also, it was extremely creepy, and felt very off. I stood like an idiot really afraid to move. For some reason, this having happened filled me with an extreme fear, I'm not really sure exactly why, and I felt the serious need to actually get the hell out of there.
As I mentioned,I had had other experiences that were kind of spooky in the house,
and at that moment I guess I felt that my presumption that it was haunted was totally correct, and I guess that was kind of enough for me,what with the things having been experienced on and off....
And as I was fairly young, and inexperienced, I grabbed one of their cars
out of the driveway and decided to drive out into the storm, stupidly.…
It was western New York, and as said probably sometime in August,so it was really coming down. [As is typical in the cliche "scary movie"….]
thunder and lightning were noisy and scary in their own way, [
when actually n them, as opposed to the fun of watching from indoors]
and that in itself was freaking me out,as these things do.... As I took off out the door in the storm to the garage to get the car, it was really soaking, and i was wet through in my sweats and t-shirt in about 30 seconds, [which was also bizarrely weird and kind of frightening.]And visibility zero.
The running away was creating it's own adrenalin, l assume.
[But ultimately,It's a miracle I didn't smash up their car.)
I simply took off, though surprisingly, nothing happened to me...
I just drove around some storm flooded streets…
Our dogs had run upstairs and presumably got into the beds,so I didn't worry about them- but I really didn't want to go back to the house.…
So I drove round soaking wet, till it was light..…

(The following peculiar story may add to the explanation of why in the above instance I had just buggered off):
"The Big Breathing"
So,yet another example of something that happened in the house,
was the "big breathing".
Sitting in our family-room one night in Autumn, probably 3am,reading a book, which l loved doing ,I began to hear a sound as of heavily laboured breathing.
Of course my first thought was "omg poor dog!"looking at the dogs, however, I noticed both were awake, and alert, and sitting up.And not panting or indeed breathing at all heavily.A lot of lights were on and it wasn't at all scary, just perplexing.I decided that it was some sort of atmospheric occurrence, so i went into the back yard, but it wasn't outside. I walked to the stairs thinking my brother was doing it, but he and my parents appeared to be asleep.…it seemed to be only in the one room.
The dogs weren't scared but they both seemed alert….
Slowly it faded, and was gone.I think it was about 15 minutes, tops.
that's about all I can say about it- "it was the middle of the night and I appeared to hear a large panting breathing in the house".
I know it sounds cliche, and yet it really happened to me.
Why no fear was attached, l couldn't say...
Was it just weather phenomena?
[I don't hallucinate, so doubt that would explain it.]
but to this day I really can't explain it,and it is kind of spooky to me.
The house is long sold, so l’ll never know .

"My friend and I went to the cemetery to photograph orbs
and found a "cold spot"
(Yes, another "paranormal cliche'"apparently ..…)
But, anyway, he had wanted to try " orb photography" (link)
So I took him to the oldest cemetery here:

*
Brighton cemetary (1821):
*Whilst snapping shots with a digital camera, and after seeing a few "orbs"*
"Ghost orbs or spirit orbs photographed by paranormal investigators hint at activity in supposedly haunted locations"
paranormal.lovetoknow.
[Dust, in the air?]
(He) had found a large old pine, and decided to begin shooting under it.
Suddenly he called me over, and asked if I felt "cold" under it. In actuality, it was indeed several degrees colder-seeming under the tree,absolutely..…
Though it was October, it had been a fairly hot day.It was dusk, so again fairly "scary"...I asked what we should do "Run." He actually said. So, of course we did.…
as we ran people entered the cemetery. I asked if we should tell them,
but he said "I guess they'll find out".
And that was that. [We tore out like fools.......]
It was probably nothing….!

(Other than these, I've had more odd spooky experiences.…
I can't even remember them all…
Do I believe?
Well, I want to live grounded in realism, so I really can't say......)
