It’s getting busy in the tropics. Tropical Storm Sally just formed from depression 19, and it’s been throwing some nasty bands my way today. Nothing to worry about, but I am guessing some slop is going to wrap around the east side of this thing as it spins up.
The NHC 2 day outlook is a bit clearer:
NHC 2 Day outlook 2 PM EDT 2020-09-12
Sally is expected to become a category 1 hurricane, and is aiming for New Orleans. Same old story…
NHC 5 day forecast for Sally
By Wednesday, Paulette might be still roaring (but may have transitioned into an extra-tropical system by then) after possibly battering Bermuda.
Rene seems to be getting the short end of the Fujiwhara exchange with Paulette, and will probably weaken and eventually wander to the SW…
The two waves in the far eastern Atlantic might see a named storm or two by mid week. And watch out for a potential sub tropical system to drop out of the north Atlantic mid week that might require a name. That could exhaust the 2020 names by approximately mid September.
In any event we might be looking at having 2 remaining names at most for the last 10 weeks of the hurricane season. Greek Letters here we come!
Stay safe y’all!
